How to grow a Coaching Business during the Covid-19 Pandemic

It’s no secret that we are living through crazy times. On a worldwide scale, this is the craziest thing we have experienced. Covid-19 Coronavirus has changed the way we interact with each other, the way we do business, the way people think and our freedom.

Not only is there a lot of uncertainty, loss, grief, fear and confusion in our world right now. There’s also a lot of those feelings towards our future. Nobody knows what our world will look like in the future. Whether that future is tomorrow or 10 years from now.

A lot of plans, world views and securities need to be thrown out the window for new ones to emerge, which of course is not comfortable for anyone. For coaches, however, this can be a lot easier. Coaches possess the tools to overcome this. All the studies and self-development coaches have done, gives them an advantage in this time.

This advantage needs to be used on a personal and public level. The world is looking for support and guidance. Coaches can step up and provide that. In a way they must, because the world needs us.

During this time coaches need to rise up and share what they know. Share the knowledge and tools to support those that need it. Using whatever tools are available to broadcast one’s message to the masses. For most people, this will be social media. Which has given every person in our world today a platform to share their message. There’s obviously a lot of unhealthy propaganda being shared, so it’s important to flood social media with the mental, emotional and spiritual tools to help.

The advantage for a coaching business during the Covid-19 Corona Virus Pandemic

By now a coach reading this may be asking, what’s in it for me? It may have already been hard to get clients before this all started. Now economies have crashed on top of us before anyone could yell “timber”. Meaning people do not have as much capital to invest in coaching.

It may feel like it’s time to throw in the towel and call it quits, but there is a huge advantage to sharing one’s message right now. Before this Covid-19 Corona Virus pandemic started, the stats were indicating that the coaching industry will be growing by 6.7% over the next couple of years and reaching $20 billion by 2022. According to PwC, the coaching industry is the second fastest growing industry in the world.

My predictions is that these numbers will be blown out of the water soon. The world needs us more than ever. There’s definitely demand for what we do now, which will only increase in the next months.

The advantage for the coach to share their message now, is that they’re investing in their future. Yes, people may not have the money to invest right now. Or maybe they do have it but feel too uncertain to invest in something that seems non-essential at the moment. One thing we do know is that after rain comes sunshine. When that sunshine comes, each coach that helped and shared their tools now will harvest the rewards.

People are still investing in coaching

Don’t get it twisted, it doesn’t mean that there’s no money in the world and that nobody will invest in coaching right now. That’s certainly not the case. There are coaches who are still landing clients while you’re reading this.

So a coach sharing their message now at a bigger scale than ever will help them reap the benefits in the future and potentially even today. Depending on the industry they’re in.

Shifting your Coaching Business to stay current with the times

These days everyone’s talking about pivoting your business. Which is something I’m all about. Especially doing it in a way that feels aligned with the coach at the moment. After all “Your Business Your Way” is my motto.

Here are some ideas of ways to pivot, especially for those who know their potential clients need help without the finances to invest.

1. Pro Bono Coaching (meaning paying at the end what they feel it’s worth)
2. Pay what you can Coaching
3. Offering Payment plans
4. Giving away free coaching
5. Scholarships (while still selling full-price coaching to those who can pay)

Those are just some ideas. It doesn’t mean every coach should apply any of them. It’s all about what’s feeling aligned at the moment.

It’s not easy

This is not a small ask. Everyone is feeling the pressure these days. Of course, a coach should take care of themselves first. Which is the only way to have something to give. After all, nobody can pour out of an empty cup.
