My recent obsession is Chicago Fire. I have watched 154 episodes in the last 42 days, but who’s counting?
What’s intriguing about the firehouses is how systematic everything is. Everyone knows what they need to do and how they need to do it. Everything is set up for a super quick response. Everything can change in a fraction of a second when people’s lives are in danger.
Manual was my thing
When I first started my business, I did everything manually. From the marketing, sales conversations, welcome emails, you name it. As my business grows, I’ve quickly realized that it’s not a sustainable way to run things.
My first business coach told me to systemize things, I didn’t listen. In my mind, I was going to do that when my business gets more successful. Little did I know that not having a system was hindering the success I seek. There was no room for growth.
Clarity is everything
A lack of clarity was keeping me from setting things up. I was not clear on whom I was talking to, how I wanted to talk to them and what experience I wanted them to have when interacting with my business. It cost me a lot of missed opportunities. The month that I got super clear, was the month that I landed 4 clients.
So if you really want to see success in your business, stop playing chicken and start making some clear decisions on where you want to go and whom you want to work with on that journey.
My systems support my free spirit nature
I’m a proud Free Spirit Shepreneur. It’s the main reason why I didn’t want to have firehouse like systems in place. The downside to not having systems is that it also kills the free spirit nature.
Take this post for example. I thought about it in the spur of the moment. When it comes to blog posts, I have a whole system on how I write, publish and promote them. No need to think about those nitty-gritty things that free spirits don’t like.
So the systems are there to support my free spirit nature instead of killing it. I teach these systems in the Free Spirit Shepreneurs VIP.
Clarity needs to feel good
Important is that it’s all coming from a feel-good space. Notice that I didn’t fully say how to get that clarity. The “how” varies from person to person. Some people need to create a full profile of who the client is while others just need some basic characteristics. Helping coaches get the clarity that is right for them is my specialty. If you need my help in that, check out the Ladder Coaching Program. Also, feel free to send me an email or a facebook message.
